NOYA Bed
The design was based on a stylistic concept developed as part of a research and development project. This involved prototyping a specialized psychiatric ward equipment component, ergonomic and functional testing, and a pro-innovation service, including pre-implementation analyses and the design of a complete four-component set for FORMED Sp. z o.o. Sp.K.
General Design Assumptions
Product Description:
This hospital bed is designed for non-acute psychiatric wards, including addiction treatment, psychiatric rehabilitation, and neurotic disorder units. In specific cases, it can also be used in acute wards, depending on the facility’s needs. The bed combines a high level of safety with an aesthetic that minimizes clinical associations, fostering a more comfortable and therapeutic atmosphere. The design excludes height adjustment but allows for positioning the patient by adjusting the backrest angle.
The bed’s construction includes features for patient immobilization (safety belts) and is equipped with mobile storage containers that are easily removable and easy to clean. The materials and construction ensure durability, resistance to damage, and ease of disinfection. The product is intended for both public and private healthcare facilities. Its primary goal is to ensure patient safety and psychological comfort by eliminating the institutional character of the space. The target group includes patients aged 16–65, specifically excluding geriatric patients.
Scope of Design Work
Full technical documentation and a technical file (including the user manual and documents required for medical device registration) were prepared. The WÓJCIK DESIGN team provided comprehensive design services and oversight during the production implementation phase.
Implemented Design Solutions
The design resulted in a product with a simple yet durable structure. The limited number of structural elements ensures efficient cleaning and disinfection. An additional advantage of the design is its streamlined technological requirements and ease of assembly.
Achieved Design Effect
The stylistic elements employed created a product that stands out within its class. The NOYA bed was launched in 2026.
