Keypads for control panels and handheld remotes for:
- Dental units
- Electric hospital and delivery beds
- Treatment chairs
- Operating and examination lights

Medical equipment is utilized by both healthcare personnel and patients. Patient safety directly depends on the proper use of each device. Keypads for control panels and remotes must be perfectly clear and legible to minimize the risk of user error. Certain functions must be restricted from patient access.
For instance, the design of stickers and control panels (applied infographics) for hospital beds is subject to the stringent EN / IEC 60601-2-52. This document precisely outlines the mechanical and electrical safety requirements for medical beds. The graphic design must accommodate extreme working conditions for staff (time pressure, resuscitation/CPR events) as well as the hospital’s rigorous hygiene protocols.
The bed control panel (both integrated into the side rails and on the handheld remote) represents the most critical infographic space:
- Icons: We use international icons in compliance with the standard: ISO 15223-1 Symbols.
- Prominent CPR (Resuscitation) Function: The button or lever for immediate leveling of the bed to the horizontal position (CPR) must be red, significantly larger than the others, and visible from a distance.
- Visual Zoning (Lockout): The nurse control panel must clearly separate standard functions from lockouts (e.g., restricting the patient from altering their positioning). Distinct padlock icons are used for this purpose.
- Movement Perspective: Up/down arrows must unambiguously indicate which specific section of the bed (headrest, leg section, or overall height) is being adjusted.
